  1. Hi Christine:

Great post. In many ways you helped me understand cognitivism and how people (students) learn. It is a constant struggle for me to remember that my students, although in big bodies, are struggling to find a way to learn that makes sense to them. An interesting question was posed in the discussion in class - does the mind develop along with the body, even though there may be an interruption of development through alcohol or drug use. I feel that the brain re-generates itself through the motivation of the mind. It is purely a volitional process. Do you agree?

Kerr and Kapp seemed to have a lively discussion going in this direction. I really did not want to jump right in on it, rather reading their rapartie was just as enlightening...without my poor power to add or subtract.

  2. Hello Christine,
You are not alone in the universe. The views you express are indeed how many of us feel. No one can say at some point the dendritic connections are all firing at the same time. People generally have strengths and weaknesses and these situations are all explained by the different overwhelming theories we are reading about. While I used a salad metaphor your kaleidoscope idea suits the processes well. I compliment you on your understanding of the relationships among these theories. It is the ability to recognize the situations which apply to the theories which we must understand.
    Thank you,
    Bradley
